This is an original, BRASS, float as used in the early versions of the Solex 40 PII carburetors as used on, amongst others, the Alfa Romeo 1900.

Please note that there is also a plastic version which was used in the later versions of the PII as found on, amongst others, the Porsche 912.

These two versions are NOT interchangeable!
